Our History

JR’s Bar & Grill  is Texas’ most successful gay bar and grill, and the inspiration for like-named clubs in Houston, Washington D.C., and Denver. It has been remodeled and enlarged three times, evolving from a narrow, one-story bar to the multi-level destination it is today, located at the corner of the gay Crossroads of Dallas. It is one of Oak Lawn’s longest-standing watering holes, JR’s is a hub for all the action on Cedar Springs. Cheap drinks, a friendly crowds, and plenty of room to mingle make it a must-stop when you’re “cruising the crossroads.” JR’s boasts three full bars — two downstairs and another upstairs on its usually bustling covered patio/balcony. The patio makes for a great place to watch the basic hustle and bustle of a Friday or Saturday night on Cedar Springs as folks visit other nearby clubs, bars, and restaurants.
